Thank you for this. I found your description of guided practice as formative assessment in action particularly useful and compelling. Do you think the current focus (perhaps obsession) with lesson structures sometimes causes teachers to underestimate the importance of these spontaneous real time instructional decisions that can't easily be scripted or standardised?

Absolutely, agree with you there and I speak about this quite a bit in my socials. Structured teaching doesn’t mean we forget about the students in front of us!
